The Man I Loved

The Man I Loved                                                                     Gershwin ( 1898 – 1937 )
Slow and in singing style
I Got Rhythm
Very marked

Even as a child Gershwin knew that he wanted to be a writer of popular songs, his first piano piece, Rialto Ripples, the influenced of ragtime on his style is plain to hear, and also as his other romantic numbers (The Man I Loved, someone to watch over me) are deeply rooted inblues tradition.

Both of these pieces are composed by George Gershwin and his brother, Ira. The Man I Loved written in a blues Jazz style, very romantic in style. Like many Jazz compositions, this was used thick chordal passage.
I Got Rhythm is in swing style. As the title, the basic point of this piece lied in its rhythm, which used many syncopation.

The Man I Loved and I Got Rhythm just a few as his songs. His consistenci of Jazz music established him as few American Jazz composer which his compositions established as the classical repertory until now.
